Automated Data collection has been a consistent interest in many technological developments, especially in smart systems. The use of wireless communication networks has revolutionized data collection which gave a large contribution to smart systems. One famous wireless network scheme is LoRaWAN. The technology has a very strong resistance to noises and interference which offers a great opportunity for many fields of networking. This study would like to venture opportunities for LoRaWAN as an information and technology infrastructure in commercial applications. Specifically, the network was implemented in a 2nd-floor market building with an area of 45 meters by 30 meters. 31 LoRa nodes are developed and spread over different points within the market area. This assessment of the LoRa-based network aims to encourage more innovation for commercial applications. This may potentially introduce smart systems to small-scale beneficiaries. Within this study, a simple, and cheap implementation of the node and recommended gateway is provided. The corresponding results show that LoRaWAN can excellently cater a network system for commercial establishments. © 2021 IEEE.
